On this #MentalHealthDay, one of my fellow spoonies bloggers Laura Spoonie Blogs kindly included me in her challenge to create a Pick Me Up Playlist. Do any of y’all basically have a soundtrack to your life? No matter what my mood is, there’s a song that speaks directly to my heart. And how magical is that? Not only is there a mother human soul out there that has felt what I’m feeling, but they also created something beautiful out of it. Granted, some music is just plain ole sing into your hairbrush, dance around your living room FUN! If you’re in need of a mood boost, give these songs a listen.

  1. The Way You Make Me Feel by Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson is forever on every playlist I will ever make. There is an MJ song for every mood. Fight me on that.

  1. Shape of You by Ed Sheeran

Could this guy be any cuter? Nope. And this song is a straight up bop. You can’t go wrong adding a little Ed Sheeran to your life.

  1. Ho Hey by The Lumineers

In general, I love The Lumineers. But this song is so catchy, making it the perfect song to sing along to. I prefer to do so with the windows down on a perfect fall day.

  1. Everybody Get Up by Five

I have a thing for Brit Pop and it doesn’t get much more poptastic than the ole British boy band Five. Side note, if you love 90s/early 2000s jams, Ritchie Neville (one of the adorable fellas from the group) has a radio show that you can stream every Sunday live from the UK where he plays nothing but amazing throwback hits. He also recently confessed he knows how to do the entire Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rap. So, if you’re on twitter, you should definitely tell him you want to hear that.

  1. Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice

Alright, STOP. Collaborate and listen. Is there a more fun song for a Pick Me Up playlist? Negative, Ghost Rider.

  1. Ernie Halter’s cover of No Diggity by Blackstreet

Full disclosure, I love the original of this song, too. But there is something so cute and fun about Ernie’s version of the song. If you aren’t familiar with Ernie’s tunes, I suggest you change that real quick.

  1. Dancing on My Own by Robyn

Again, I heart Brit Pop and Robyn is basically the Queen. I suggest turning the volume way up and singing into your hairbrush.

  1. Love So Soft by Kelly Clarkson

As Jonathan Van Ness says, “You’re strong. You’re a Kelly Clarkson song. You got this!”

  1. Goodbye by Fancy

If you haven’t heard about Fancy Hagood yet, I apologize. Because this guy can SANG! This song is so catchy and fun. Also, you should be following him on social media because he is one of the most inspiring and magical humans ever.

  1. All the Small Things by blink- 182

Play the air guitar, sing along, and rock out to this one. It’s impossible for me to listen to this song and not get in a better mood.
